I know two important things as concerns living with other human beings. The first pertains to the individual. I could care less what skin color a person is if I am treated by them with respect. With no preconceived notions concerning my individuality. If I am to be disliked allow me to give the reasons to be disliked. Take that to the bank!

I will admit to prejudice when I joined the Navy in 1969. I soon learned that I was a fool to put skin color ahead of what an individual was. Once I learned that lesson I got along with everyone famously. Again, it is the individual who will unerringly create a reason for disliking them. Take that to the bank!

The second is to allow latitude for some to experiment with who or what they are. We live in a society which breeds doubt due to the enormous amount of young people who have no idea what life is about other than what they get on the internet. That means that these young people are disappointed and, therefore. susceptible to unreasonable strictures of thought about others. Certainly, this does not apply to self harm. Oh, think constructively when using the internet. Destructive is what social media is because the youth of America has been lied to by those who should know better. Take that to the bank!

I learned all of this in combat and I remained friends with many of my combat buddies, of all colors, after I was once again a civilian. Combat teaches that working together saves lives. Working disparately kills. Take that to the bank!
